Freightliner has spent the better part of the last 100 years building its reputation as an industry-leading semi-tractor manufacturer, so it should come as no surprise they are one of the first to introduce an Electronic Semi Truck.

This groundbreaking new Freightliner eCascadia promises to uphold the design of its best-selling diesel sibling while protecting the environment by producing zero emissions. After more than a million test miles, series production has officially launched, meaning these revolutionary new trucks will be showing up on the lots of Freightliner dealers across the country before you know it.

Let’s look at a few of the features you’ll find in this all-electric giant.

Powered by Detroit

Building on their proven foundation, Freightliner collaborated with Detroit to design an all-new electric powertrain for the next generation of semi-trucks. Producing zero emissions, the Detroit ePowertrain maintains the reliability and efficiency you’ve come to expect.

Promising 320 horsepower in a single axle configuration and 470 horsepower as a tandem axle, the eCascadia offers three different battery options to choose from, with the largest capacity option (440kWh). It boasts a range of 370 km and promises to charge up to 80% in 90 minutes using the Detroit eFill system.

Safety is standard

Brand new technology under the hood brings some cool new safety tech along with driver safety and comfort in mind. Starting in the driver’s seat, the eCascadia produces significantly less noise and vibration than the diesel model, allowing the driver to be more aware of their surroundings. A reduction in shifting and a smoother, more responsive acceleration offer drivers a more comfortable experience behind the wheel.

Along with improvements in ride quality and noise levels, the eCascadia comes standard with Detroit Assurance – a suite of safety systems designed with innovative technology to keep your operation running smoothly. Including:

  • 3 Active Assist systems
  • Adaptive Cruise Control to 0 MPH
  • Intelligent High Beams
  • Automatic Wipers

Detroit Assurance Safety Suite is designed to keep you, as well as those around you, safer than ever.
